Our president, Mr. Kuno, was appointed as the new chairman of the Japan Metal Stamping Association at its general meeting held in June.
In this interview, he discusses the challenges and initiatives for the future.
The association and the industry face three main challenges:
1. Strengthening ties with local communities
Currently, there is a lack of interaction between the Japan Metal Stamping Association and local organizations. We aim to establish opportunities for mutual exchange—listening to local concerns and opinions while also sharing the association’s policies and activities.
We see the association’s role as a bridge between local communities and the national government, and we will actively convey local perspectives to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
2. Addressing labor shortages
Although we are looking to utilize foreign talent, restrictions in the technical training system make it difficult to assign trainees to critical processes such as spot welding.
We intend to work with the relevant government ministries to make it possible for technical trainees to engage in spot welding, which is a key post-production process.
3. Smooth business succession
Many companies are struggling with business succession. The shortage of successors is a pressing issue, while at the same time developing the next generation of leaders is crucial.
Although details will be finalized later, we plan to establish a “Young Executives Committee” to provide learning and networking opportunities for future leaders.
In addition, we will also work in cooperation with METI to improve trading practices and promote wage increases.
