ICOSPA2024: International Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing held in Osaka

In 2024, the international conference "ICOSPA2024," organized by the Japan Metal Stamping Association, was held in Japan for the first time in 18 years at the Hotel New Otani in Osaka. A total of 180 participants from six countries gathered for active discussions centered on the theme of sustainable manufacturing.

At the main conference on the second day, following the keynote speech, our Vice President, Isao Kuno, acted as moderator and ICOSPA held its first panel discussion. Representatives from each country participated in this panel discussion, which was conducted entirely in English. A wide range of issues were discussed, including Brexit, the Ukraine crisis, employment and skill transfer, environmental response, automotive electrification, and even digital transformation and AI.

The participants confirmed the responsibilities that each country should fulfill through the highly productive technology of press working to realize sustainable manufacturing. Ultimately, they emphasized the importance of countries working together and fulfilling their respective responsibilities, rather than merely focusing on business strategies, in order to show the way to a sustainable future.
